An exhibition on the “making of” the videogame Zblucops, as well as art from authors Bill and Gobi, is present at FIBDA-Festival Internacional de Banda Desenhada da Amadora (Portugal) from the 24th of October to the 9th of November. The videogame, in development for the Wii console by Biodroid Productions, is schedule to hit the market early next year. At Amadora a first prototype is being screened and various aspects of the production process are shown.

On Saturday, 1st of November, Bill will be at the festival to sign his works and a demonstration on the process of how a 2D comic character becomes a 3D videogame character will be made by Biodroid’s Tiago Baginha, on the exhibition site, from 15:00 to 17:00.

For the first time at the gigantic book fair, Biodroid visited Frankfurt in our usual scouting mode. We also conducted a round of meetings with our licensors, moving ahead with the concepts and approvals for the games in production.

António Saraiva: “The comics and manga section of the fair was, naturally, our first point of interest. But it has to be said that if you love books, the Frankfurt Buchmesse feels like you’ve died and gone to Heaven.”

Diogo Horta e Costa, from Biodroid, and Julia Lim, from Sieundesign, came together in MIPCOM, Cannes, to sign an agreement on the property “Banana Shake”.

The brand, an original animation series developed by Sieundesign in Korea, will be developed as a videogame by Biodroid for all online console platforms. Also planned is a Nintendo DS game, all to hit the market by the end of 2009.

Once again Biodroid headed for Cannes, this time for MIPCOM, one of the most relevant film and television fairs. In the agenda was the signature of Banana Shakes‘ deal with Korea’s Sieundesign (read more on this here) and also a new round of discussions on some of the hotter animation series in the market. We also found out about plans to turn some of our licensed properties into television content.

António Saraiva: “Although there weren’t a lot of new brands to spot, it was fun and useful to see that the selection we made in March (in MIPTV) had developed, in just a few months, to more enticing properties”.
